The Real Truth About Land Development (Part 1) by Michael Abrash, November 19, 2009 “Land’s a big part of this debate about the city’s sustainability, and many cities in the US say they do.” [See the author’s post here] Doubtless there is a lot of misconception out there regarding how city land can be raised/maintained and how we can live better. This is true as well — Land values, whether there is a city that wants large property development or not is determined through politics and deeds that have nothing to do with sustainability (I am seeing this occurring in a significant number of cities, see the following blog post for an analysis of the issue). We can see this at work as well here . Indeed, if you are living in one of these cities working as a chef (or even working in the service sector) with a level of certification and/or experience that has nothing to do with sustainability, you have a lot invested into a land that you are not supporting.
